The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership of Mr.
Nnamdi Kanu, has wondered why United Nations (UN) and other world
leaders as well as human rights organizations have refused to talk and
allowed the Nigeria government and security agents to be killing unarmed
civilians for demanding self determination.

The group said that they have decided to follow the international law of
peaceful means to restore Biafra state, but noted that it is very
pathetic that world leaders were adamant over the killings of innocent
peaceful protesters who only demand their own separate Nation in this
contraption called Nigeria.

A statement by the Media and Publicity Officer of IPOB Mr. Emma
Powerful, informed the whole world that they were not celebrating the
restoration of Biafra or Biafra independence rather they celebrated the
remembrance of the fallen brethren during the civil war and those who
died during the peaceful protest in so many states of Biafra land.
According to the group, “IPOB family worldwide regrets why the FG used
the security agents like Army, Navy, Police and DSS to kill unarmed
civilians who came to see the remembrance day celebration of their
fallen heroes and heroines during the Biafra/Nigeria war.

The events took place in more than 102 countries around the world
without bloodshed”. “We congratulated all IPOB family members and
Biafrans worldwide on their courage and support during the war against
the people of Biafra between 1967 and 1970 and for those who died during
the peaceful protests and rallies in Aba, Onitsha, Asaba, Igweocha and
Bayelsa state”

“We want to thank our leader, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, who is undergoing
concocted charges with the Nigeria court in Abuja for initiating this
event in Enugu 2014 and Aba 2015. Although the previous remembrance days
did not turn to bloodshed like this year’s own in Anambra State”

Powerful states: “Beside that IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu who is the only
organisation that organised the event and executed it worldwide and
those organizations claiming to be part of the events in one way or
another are hypocritical because you cannot eat your cake and have it”.
