Cybersecurity
threats represent one of the most serious national security, public
safety, and economic challenges and it can be safe to assume that its
awareness is not up to the mark. The Global Cybersecurity Index 2017, via ITnewsAfrica looked at the top African countries that are committed to cyber security. The survey measured the commitment of countries to cyber security based on five pillars: legal, technical and organizational measures, capacity building and international cooperation. 

 

The list? Here you go:

• Mauritius: Surprised? Then you’d be greatly surprised to know that Mauritius ranked number 6 in the global report.
• Egypt: Egypt ranked 14 globally and second in the continent with an overall score of 0.772.
• Rwanda: Rwanda had an overall score of 0.602 and ranked 36 globally.
• Kenya: While Kenya ranked 45 globally with an overall score of 0.574.
• Nigeria: Nigeria had an overall score of 0.569 and ranked 46th globally.
• Morocco: Morocco ranked 49 globally with an overall score of 0.541.
• Uganda.
• South Africa: Surprisingly, South Africa ranked eighth in the continent and 58th globally, with an overall score of 0.502.
• Algeria: Algeria has an overall score of 0.432 and is ranked 68th globally.
• Botswana.
